We had the amazing opportunity to drive down the Icefield’s Parkway while heading to our next stop in Golden, B.C. Normally, when we are driving we don’t stop except if we need a bathroom break or to get some fuel, but there were a few places I wanted to check out on the drive.

One of the stops we made was at the Athabasca Glacier. We dediced not to do the actual tour where you get to ride on that big machine right onto the glacier since it would have cost a small fortune for our whole family to go, but we did walk up the trail that overlooks the edge of the glacier. It was so windy, and a pretty steep hike up and then back again. We didn’t stay long, but it was a cool sight to see!

We also stopped at Peyto lake and hiked up to the lookout point. It was another pretty steep hike, and after just hiking to the glacier, Haydn especially wasn’t too keen on walking any more. The view from the lookout of the amazing turquoise lake was absolutely amazing. Just unreal how blue the lake is.

We stopped a few more times along the drive at beautiful lookouts along the way, we also saw a couple bears, a coyote and some elk, it was definitely one of the most beautiful drives we have done on this trip. We stayed at an RV park in Golden that was attatched to a golf course. The site was pretty spacious and in a nice spot, but the mosquitos were sooooooo bad! We actually didn’t leave our trailer unless we absolutely had to because if we did we were swarmed immediately. It was pretty terrible.

While we were in Golden, Tim Mashinter came to stay with us for two nights. He was driving through on his motorcycle trip so we got to hang out with him which was very nice. We drove to Lake Louise with Tim and also stopped at Emerald Lake.
